When i was thinking of content for my latest post, I wanted to list this article- TOP TEN NOVELS ABOUT PARIAHS. But as I went on reading, I came across author Richard Zimler. This article was written by Zimler and in that, he also mentioned his novel 'The Gospel According to Lazarus'.
Going by the article's title and taking his novel as an example to talk about pariahs, he added his own reading list on the latter.
Pariahs are persistently silenced. The so-called deviants and troublemakers have challenged conformity. Somehow vanished, vanquished and erased, they have added their own unique perspective.
While reading on Pariahs, let's come to Richard Zimler.
Based in New York, with a degree in Journalism from Stanford; he is one of the best-selling authors.
He received National Endowments for the Arts for his stunning contribution to the field of Arts. His novels have also been nominated for the International Dublin Literary Prize.
Zimler's work has been awarded and lauded by the Portuguese government for depicting Portuguese history. The uprooted Sephardic Jewish culture in the five novels portrays five generations of trauma, devastation and grit to survive. The horrendous memories of the holocaust are permanently etched in the minds of the readers.
I am yet to read more about him and his novels.
Meanwhile, a website is dedicated completely to Richard Zimler. Happy digging till then!
