Oh! The Devil indeed poured rain and hail on my way to the theatre.  So badly smashed by the Bengaluru rains that I wasn’t even sure if I could make it on time.

So thrilled I was to get out of the house on a solo movie date.

But did the mother have it easy? Leaving the toddler behind to watch her teen love sprung back into action? No, she absolutely didn’t.

“Oh, it’s just drizzling!” The lines kept ringing. Will I miss the recital/ movie too?

The movie didn’t spread thin for me after all. Negating all the classic reviews online, you might have read a couple of posts, but not the one on my way to the theatre, a thrilling experience? Did you? The warm nostalgia and a sweet smile spread on my face- watching my homies back, fire-fighting another fashion catastrophe was what I cared for.

Half-drenched waist down, my cold fingers shivered in pressing the lift button.

Oh, shifting back and forth to the prequel and the sequel.

Did I enter the wrong Audi?

No, not when the girls dressed up in the movie. You should have seen them! The way they elevated the aura. I felt a tad bit lousy for looking like a tired mother who actually swam across continents to reach ashore.

Miranda steps out of the car in red! Woooow!!!!

The theatre filled with half-cheer. So glorious! In this moment, it was less of a sequel and more of a tribute to the legend.

But Nigel and Amari gauge the mood of the dramatic highs she has stepped into. Irv is not happy, rethinking Miranda’s promotion. Apparently, she has made a fool of herself.

Runway is in a dire state. After 20 years! Yes, a change has come about. The digitised spaces are overpowering the tangible page-turning magazines. Runway stopped being a magazine years ago and is now downloadable!

In the face of a challenge, the sequel brings back the fired journalist Andy Sachs as the new Features Editor. Faithful to the prequel, Andy, on her way to restoring credibility, reminisces about her old position, meets new faces and yes, Miranda’s snark!

Time has taken a toll on Miranda- the now old dragon, coughing fire! Andy is surprised. This is where the audience wouldn’t be flattered in comparing it to its predecessor.

Running parallel to a walk down memory lane, Andy’s relevance is still questioned. Is she here to bide her time or actually add value to Runway? She wouldn’t find rest or validation. Not here. Not ever. Nigel reminds her that yet again!

Flattering Dior makeover tour with Emily, the fashion weeks, glitz and glamour- a fairytale on the outside again resonates with the audience.

Irv’s ire drawn towards Miranda starts to placate a bit, but the numbers aren’t enough.

Miranda wants something big. And Andy delivers big- an interview with the elusive millionaire!

Irv is ecstatic with the numbers and decides on the big news about Miranda on his birthday. But as fate would have it, a sudden stroke takes Irv away and brings back his bumblebee of a son to Runway. Apparently, the future of Runway is holding a management meeting with Miranda at the cafeteria. You heard right, Miranda is in the cafeteria! And also, after the budget-cutting, Miranda is in the economy class! Watching the queen strut wasn’t easy, especially after the bar set by the prequel. Stanley Tucci remains loyal. But unlike the first, Miranda has a man around who warms up to her tears and gravitas. These are priceless moments in Italy. Lady Gaga makes a cameo.

Miranda and Andy team up to save the future of Runway, hanging in the balance more so after Irv’s sudden demise. The work culture is as flashy as it is toxic. Will the duo find an equilibrium?

Frozen eggs. AI. Are people reading what you are writing? Relevance. Divorces. The gritty realities remain in place.  Again, the streets of New York City are scoured in the ever-changing fashion world! The tell-all book on Miranda by Andy, will she write it? The profitable run to stay relevant in publishing? The movie is updated in its research of the fashion world. It’s not beating about the bush. The movie, nonetheless, celebrated sisterhood.
