President Draupadi Murmu was in Vijayavada on Sunday the 4th. The government of Andhra Pradesh organised civic reception on her maiden visit to the state.

The article that I read has various honourable mentions that are important from literature and culture point of view.

The President was presented with the portraits of Sri Venkateshwara Swamy. Venkateshwara, a form of the Hindu god Vishnu, is the principal deity that resides in Tirumala at Tirupati.

The President highlighted the rich Telugu tradition by quoting Raja Krishnadevaraya(1471-1529) in her speech.

She also highlighted the famous trinity of poets- Nannayya, Tikkanna and Erranna. Nannayya was the author of the first to translate the Mahabharata from Sanskrit to Telugu. After Nannayya, Tikkanna was the second poet to translate Mahabharata into Telugu. Erranna was the last of the trinity to translate Mahabharata into Telugu.

The President also emphasised the importance of re-establishing Indian languages in the New Education Policy 2020.

Geographically, the land of Andhra Pradesh has been blessed by rivers like Godavari, Krishna, Pennar, Vamsadhara and Nagavali.

The ‘ Nagarjuna Sagar Project’ named after the great Buddhist philosopher Nagarjuna points to the influence of heritage on progress.

Andhra Pradesh’s sensitivity towards the development of women was highlighted in her speech by naming famous personalities like the poetess Molla who composed the epic Ramayana in Telugu. Durgabai Deshmukh worked hard for women to move ahead in life and also encouraged their participation in the freedom struggle.

Sarojini Naidu, the first woman Governor of Independent India played an important role in Mahatma Gandhi’s ‘ Salt Satyagraha’.  The President drew parallels with Naidu when overseeing her roles and responsibilities as the Governor of Jharkhand.

Being the first tribal President of India, she recalled the active participation of the people of Andhra Pradesh. Celebrating the 125th birth anniversary of Alluri Sitaraman Raju, she shared the news of the construction of  'Alluri Sitaraman Raju Memorial Tribal Freedom Fighters Museum’. She also remembered Bhagwan Birsa Munda as well who laid his life for Mother India.

In the development of modern science and technology in India, Andhra Pradesh’s role is vital. One of the prominent names was Yellapragada Subbarao in biochemistry and pharmacy. The Sriharikota range in Andhra Pradesh, the IT hub has pushed the state's name to global prominence.

So, this has been my analysis of the article and hope this helps in gaining valuable information to add to your knowledge bank.
